HOW IS IT BUILT?
We start by excavating and compacting the site. Then we add a two layer compacted crushed stone flex-base. We shape and contour to your specifications. Next we place the turf and add a special blend of silica sand or a rubber grind, depending on the athletic surface you are building. This causes the fibers to stand upright, relax and blossom. Finally we apply a combination of black and green top-dressing sand which gives the green a realistic appearance. Our last step is to adjust the speed of the green by rolling it. WHY WOULDN'T I JUST GO WITH NATURAL GRASS?
That's easy - maintenance and the cost of maintenance. A new greens mower alone costs about $4,000. Then there's disease control, chemical application and irrigation systems. Even with a full commitment of time, energy and money, there is no guarantee your green won't end up with discoloration and weeds. (See Why Synthetic)

HOW LONG IS THE TURF GOING TO LAST?
All the products are UV treated to prevent color fading. The putting green is rated for more than 15 years of use.

CAN I BUY THE MATERIALS AND INSTALL IT MYSELF?
The answer ranges from very doubtful to absolutely not. Any early problems associated with synthetic turf green were all the result of poor installation. Unless you're fully qualified in drainage technologies, base preparations, top dressing blends and have the specialized tools developed by the turf industry necessary to do the job, leave the installation to the professionals. If you do meet the qualifications, call us and we can provide you with the materials and technical information you will need.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
That, of course depends on many factors. Drainage conditions, topography, subsoil and size, add-on accessories, location and accessibility. (See Price Guide)

WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
The putting green looks great - very much like a natural golf green in prime condition. It actually looks more realistic with age. Research and advancements in turf technology have led to very efficient ways to install synthetic grass greens. A specially formulated green top dressing sand adds to the appearance of the green, and more importantly, gives the green a true ball roll. For more photos, check out our photo gallery.
